1. Can you tell us how serious the juvenile crime has gotten these days? What are some of the novel types of crimes committed by juveniles nowadays?
2. In your opinion, what might be the cause of the increase in severe juvenile crimes?
3. If the juveniles commit serious crimes, what are the current punishments they encounter?
4. For now, instead of detaining juveniles in detention facilities, a system is maintained to manage and supervise juvenile offenders at home and in society. How effective has this been so far?
5. Do you think lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility by one year will make any difference?
Will that help reduce the juvenile crime rate and help those juvenile criminals to be reformed?
6. There is an opinion that lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility is not effective in preventing juvenile crimes and is not desirable from the perspective of international human rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. What is your opinion regarding this statement?
7. Some argue that the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the Ministry of Education should all come together to come up with a holistic solution to the increase of juvenile crimes. Perhaps we can say that the juvenile crimes cannot just be narrowed down to judicial issues as it’s also related to educational issues as well. What are some of the social and institutional measures that can be made to reduce juvenile crimes?
